-The Mage's Temple-

The Empire of Man is the primary host to the Mage's Temple, constructing temple buildings in many major cities, or even smaller temple gateways in villages and forts throughout the borders of the Empire. While the Empire does host the Mage's Temple, the two entities are separated in purpose and the temple is strictly treated as a guild entity rather than an Imperial run organization. At times the membership of the temple have been known to enter the realm of politics and they even host a seat within the Imperial Royal Court, however this seat is considered honorary and may only be used by the other members of the high court to monitor the purposes of magic users and the powers of the temple as a whole.
While the political intrigue of the Mage's Temple has been noted as troubling by members of anti-magic groups, the existence of the temple as a place for those of magical capacity to learn safe techniques and be tracked by the Inquisition has left it as a cornerstone of the Empire for millennia. The primary goal of the Mage's Temple is to collect any potential magic users within the borders of the Empire, though they do accept membership from beyond the border if an individual were to seek out the temple, such as elves from their dominions or sorcerers from villages beyond the border. In this way the temple is able to calm common citizens who are aware of the dangerous potency of wild magic, knowledge of the deadly arcane powers known either from witnessing militant evocationists during battle, or by experiencing the trauma of criminal mages and witches. Although there are wild mages who discover their talents later in life and choose to join the temple, most of the temple membership comes from the discovered youth who display their magics with instinctual arcane powers. While the other youths are taken to the Imperial Academies, it is common that the youth which are taken to the Mage's Temple are taught, trained, and socialize only within the temple grounds, further separating their citizenship from that of other Imperials.
Although there is much strife, especially between the temple and the movement of anti-magic protestors known as Rapture, the Mage's Temple has operated as a university for several thousand years, even offering discoveries to the Empire in areas of study such as metallurgy, alchemy, medicines, disease control, and construction. Most of the education within the temple revolves around the safe practice and use of magic however, taking undisciplined mages and molding them into knowledgeable users of the arcane. Once a mage is able, the temple respects their members with status within the organization, offering jobs as scholars, teachers, liaisons, couriers, and very rarely (as most magic users do not study violence) soldiers. Following the period of apprenticeship and graduation from the Mage's Temple, a mage is allowed to rejoin Imperial society without the protection of the temple to follow their own destinies, although these mages must still meet with the Order of Arcane Registration within the Imperial Inquisition regularly or be found to be practicing as a wild mage which could yield dire consequences.
