-The Mage's Temple-
-Scholar-
Those who stay within the Mage's Temple often pursue rank within the order to show what skills they have acquired during their time as an apprentice. For those who have developed a passion for a particular skill, the mantle of Mage Scholar is the status of graduating into the more prestigious and respected aspects of the Mage's Temple.

When an apprentice believes that they are ready to attain the rank of Mage Scholar, they are tested in their knowledge by other scholars of the same order. Common orders of the scholars that also share their knowledge with the Empire are apothecary, herbalism, alchemy, metallurgy, and engineering, where common orders with more magical investments are illusions, evocations, conjurations, transmutations, enchantments, and divinations. Although there are common orders within the scholars of the Mage's Temple, it is by no means a limitation. It is also common that apprentice mages will make discoveries or undertake passions that do not fit into the mold of other orders and they will become skilled enough to be tested for a new order before being granted their mantle.

The tests that an apprentice undergoes are orchestrated by other scholars of the order in which the apprentice seeks membership. This could be crafting specific recipes for the apothecary, forming specific metals for alchemy, or by casting specific incantations with mystical skills. If the scholar offering the test, usually a respected member of the order or experienced scholar, finds that the apprentice has the skill to earn respect among their peers, then they are granted the mantle of scholar. If the apprentice is seeking the mantle outside of a typical order then they will seek out the assistance of the Head Mage of the temple and together they will then discover a respected member within the temple to assist with the test.

Upon completing the test the new scholar will be awarded a pendant to adorn their uniform. The pendant will take on an aspect of their role so that others will be able to know the scholars expertise. In addition to the pendant a scholar is granted a cloak so as to be recognized as a member of the Order of Scholars within the Mage's Temple. The cloak is dyed red and may be worn over the apprentice uniform or a uniform more fitting of the particular station. Many citizens of the Empire know the "red cloaks" as the face of the Mage's Temple, as many scholars offer assistance, services, and even mercantile from the temple.

After a member of the Mage's Temple is recognized as a red cloak Scholar they are then permitted to teach lessons to apprentices. The scholar may seize forum opportunities to teach classes or they may occupy the grounds to offer their knowledge in less formal settings around the temple grounds. The act of teaching is a well respected service within the Mage's Temple and should a scholar be recognized with an exceptional talent for teaching, they can be awarded additional pendants to adorn their uniform as signs of earned prestige and experience that apprentices can seek out.

While red cloaks do offer their wisdom to others of the temple, there are some who do not offer their passions for the lessons of others, instead seeking deeper knowledge into their order's work. New discoveries, bettering methods, and broadening skills are also ways to earn prestige among peers. Scholars with more prestigious pendants and acknowledgements may test newer scholars as their career progresses, assigning them new symbols of status as their knowledge continues to grow while those who seek to take over as head of an order must seek out their respects from the Head Mage of the temple.

The red cloaks, scholars of the Mage's Temple, are the most common member following the status of apprentice, though anyone bearing the mantle of scholar will clarify that while there are many who wear the red cloak, there are so many more things to be done.
