-Regarding The Nüddish-
Far in the north, across a great river chasm known as the Divide, is the frozen land of Nüdland. The people who live here are made strong by the harsh environment and they carry themselves with tremendous pride to have conquered it.
Homeland: Nüdland is the most northern region of Nhearn. The land is cold and harsh with wide areas of unsettled tundra. The eastern coast is the most populated region with whaling villages dotting the available coves of the cragged shoreline along the dangerous arctic ocean waters known as the Bay of Teeth.
The capital city, Ravenhold, resides in Nüdland’s interior, built in the southern valley where the slopes of the great mountains climb to the tallest heights of Nhearn. Villages that gather resources for the benefit of Nüdland are scattered throughout this region to supply the great city and its people with all that it needs.
Names: Nüddish people have their first name followed by their family or clan name. When someone has earned recognition of a great triumph, they are allowed to carry a title or mantle instead of their clan name, earning the respect of remembrance, a significant recognition of glory, a name which is taken only for themselves instead of gifting it to their family line. It is considered an honor to carry such a mantle and to rebuke the offer would be insulting to the Jarls who offer such praise to those who have earned it.
Religion: There are few large churches within the vast space of Nüdland, most of the constructions being bastions of pilgrimage in distant places from Ravenhold. Throughout Nüdland it is more common for villages and homes to host shrines and vigils to the Elemental Gods, especially Morgana who is prayed to for strength and warmth. Maribel, the Night Warden as she is known in the north, is also openly worshipped, often by the village karls (peasantry) because of the short days and long nights in her darkness. Imperials believe that the God of Darkness is prayed to in order to spite the Auroran shrines of the Empire, which may be true among warriors of Nüdland along the borders who often chant the hymns of the new moon during skirmishes with Imperial forces.
Age: Nüddish people are not considered adults until they accomplish their First Trial. This ceremony is often committed during the tenth winter in which a child is given nothing and their status within the community is given depending on what kill, tale, or triumph they manage to return with. People who do not accomplish this hunt or who fail to return with anything are not considered adults and could be so shamed by their clan, a consequence that burdens the child to banishment in the cold. Nüddish people may live up to one century, although the rough lifestyle and the open acceptance of violence in the region often keeps most people from reaching old age.
Alignment: Nüddish people are taught about self-perseverance, individual accomplishment, and warrior’s pride. These teachings lead to more Chaotic nature among the people, but the strong ideals of honor and long traditions of glory keep more wild natures in, neither favoring toward good or evil.
Size: Humans of Nüdland grow tall and broad. They stand well over a height and can weigh close to fourteen stones on average.
