-Morganna-

GODDESS OF THE ELEMENT OF FIRE

Symbol: A triangle of the elements pointing upward and left bare of the line of the foundation.

Place of Existence: The Realm of the Element of Fire, which takes residence along the axis of Nhearn to turn with the year. The Realm sits beneath the Realm of Heaven and above the Realm of Hell. It is often depicted that the Realm of the Element of Fire is adjacent to the Realm of Water and the Realm of Earth to match with the passing of the seasons, but this has been considered representational of historic artists, that instead the Realms weave among and throughout one another across the axis of Nhearn.

Signs: She often displays her powers with the creation of uncontrolled fires. Her signs are often viewed as wrathful, and the severity of these events often corelate with her attention to the realm or fixation to a location. House fires, forest fires, and city wide burnings are all signs of Morganna's attention. While it is not often attributed to her, some elemental priests and theorists believe that controlled fire, such as in a hearth, on a candle, or within a lantern, are signs that the Goddess is not seeking vengeance and is allowing the use of her element for the pleasure of the denizens of Nhearn. Morganna is also the Goddess of Chaos however, making it difficult to predict if she is actually making efforts to be witnessed or if these events are merely occurrences and coincidences only.

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Morganna is considered to be the youngest of the Elemental Gods and she was the final element introduced to the Realm of Nhearn during its creation. While waiting for her invitation, Annabel, the Goddess of Evil, reached out into the Realm of Fire and twisted the mind of the Goddess so that she believed she was made least of all the others. When at last she was upon the world of Nhearn she began to destroy all that was made before her. During an Age, even before the Age of Woe, the Elemental Gods fought with Morganna, and she was pushed away from Nhearn, back into her place in the Realm of Fire. Due to the destruction that she dealt upon Nhearn, and her continued assaults upon the Realm following those days into antiquity, the other Gods have come to call her the Goddess of Chaos, her motivation unclear and her wrath often unprompted. During the Age of Woe she also acted as a servant of Annabel, but even this alliance was loose at best, as the Goddess of Chaos did not fully agree with the ideals of the ancient evil.

There are those among elves, dwarves, and men, that worship the Goddess of Fire. Among the wood elves, Morganna is observed with bonfires at the changing of the season to Autumn during the Harvesti Festival in Sepa. The wood elves collect dry or dying pieces of their dominions to feed to the Goddess as a show of affection, just as their Goddess Vanessa did in the ancient days. Plain elves often celebrate the seasonal changes in the same manner, but their lands are often prone to expansive fires which they consider vengeful acts from the Goddess, and they try to observe her fondly as little as possible. Instead the plain elves share the history of their many wars with the younger generations and they all tell of the fear of the power of Morganna that they all share, as though she were the great enemy herself. Dwarves have been known to make sacred forms of Morganna in statues, carve her symbol into stones, and grant offerings to fires in her name, in order to keep their hearths and crucibles safe from her wrath. Among the Empire of Man it is common to offer gifts during the Harvesti Festival, but this tradition is mostly to avoid calamity and disastrous fire seasons. Some priests who worship the elements do more to acknowledge the deity, but even they do so to delay or avoid any wrathful or apocalyptic events she might be manifesting.

Morganna has been known to be worshipped by cults, often times these are apocalyptic in nature. She has been known to grant boons to paladin followers, granting them divine energy to inflict her destructive force upon Nhearn in the form of fire. Evocationists, magic users that study more violent incantations, often view Morganna as a boon to their powers, although this often leads to self-indulgent behaviors that can overpower wizards and sorcerers. Divine or arcane, the gifts of Morganna are used as parable stories throughout the lands of Nhearn, though it is believed that even the most farfetched of these stories have truth to them in the days of antiquity.

Morganna is worshipped utmost by her own creations, the orc. They constantly invoke her name and are pushed into their violent nature because of her wrathful ideology. While she is given offerings by all orc who believe her to be the mother of their people, she is especially worshipped by the orc of the Fire Clans in the volcanic valley of Montontra. The orc of the Fire Clans are so named because of their proximity to the volcano of Mhat-Ozogra, where Morganna's throne and entrance to her realm is claimed to be. They have an abundance of metals in the lands of Montontra and access to flows of lava which have granted them a tolerance to heat and a deep knowledge of metallurgy, which they attribute to Morganna as a gift with which to inflict her wrath upon the other denizens of Nhearn.

In addition to her creations, which have taken on her devotion to chaos, violence, and destruction, she has been known to grant a tremendous amount of power to a single life upon Nhearn. This divinely imbued creature is known as the Champion of Fire, and her boon has been a problem upon the world since the early days of the Age of Woe. Though many have taken the title of Champion of Fire, from men, orc, and even elemental monsters, the most recent to claim her favor was a powerful dragon known as Olag, who has used the gifts to calamitous effect.

In recent Ages it is unclear where Morganna places her loyalty. She has never aligned with the forces of good and has been lured many times into using her followers and powers by other deities who do follow Annabel, however she is a difficult ally to keep as her forces have often begun to battle everything upon the fields in times of strife. It is likely that she exists as a lonesome Goddess, her motivations only known to her, for she keeps no ties to others for very long.
