-Gilden-

GOD OF GREED AND DEBT

Symbol: Usual discoveries of golden planchet coins, are found upon cultists that work with the God of Greed, though there have been many shrines that also take on extravagant forms of gilded skulls.

Place of Existence: It is believed that Gilden has resided within Nhearn from an ancient time and has not been apart from the Realm. Though there may be some cults that suggest the God has some lordship within Annabel's dominion of Hell, there are no known documents from the Inquisition to suggest that the God has ever departed from the Realm of Nhearn.

Signs: Sensations of bad deals, good deals easily offered, or misfortune, often in a financial manner.

Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Gilden is one of the few deities that takes on a masculine form, the cults often stating God, though the true form that the deity takes is not entirely known. There are documents in an Age passed that suggested a feminine form among gold cults, though it is likely that the God Gilden is a shape shifter, taking on whatever form might please them during their pursuit of power upon Nhearn.

Gilden has had limited roles throughout the histories of Nhearn and is not often encountered by the paladins of Aurora, the priests of Chrisitanna, or any other oath sworn that takes up the hunt for evil. Gilden is among the few deities upon Nhearn that seems more pleased to witness what is to come rather than make active plots to undo the efforts of good.

There are some, especially within the Imperial Inquisition, that are suspicious of the silence that this God has had over several thousand years of Imperial History, though there might be some evidence that Gilden has been focused more on the Northern Territories and the lands of the Terrors rather than confronting the powers of the Empire or being close to the paladin shrines of Aurora.

While there are few cults that revolve around Gilden, it is common for merchants to host a thought or even make an offer to the God with hopes that they are able to make good profits. While this is not often considered worshipping of evil, rather the shunning of negativity by prospect, the Aurorans and the Christiannan churches heavily refute the idea that any dealings with Gilden could have benefits worth entangling with evil.

Those that are aware of Gilden however, and who are ready to work with the God of Greed, are greatly rewarded. For those within the inner membership of such secretive cults, they know the God as a giver of wealth, a grafter of power, and the attainer of desire beyond riches. These cults often make attempts to grab political power and sway so that they can better leverage power and control to seek more profitable venues. Their God, often true to their purpose, offers great wealth and access to greater rewards, though not all are fortunate enough to escape what Gilden demands as payment.
