-Regarding Elves-
The Dominion of Elves has stretched across Nhearn so that no land is untouched. The sacred lands of the elves have been well guarded from outsiders and have managed to adapt to the changing face of Nhearn through the Ages.
Homeland: The Sylvari, elves who descended from the aid of Vanessa, Goddess of the Fey, hold many places close to their hearts. The Wood Elves, as they are commonly referred to, have many forests that they call home. These elven woods are well protected and are often not easily wandered away from. The Wood Elves have woods as far north as the icy lands of Nüdland, as far south as the Imperial home of Southrunn, as far west as the Great Bay of Presons, and as far east as the Badlands, which the elves customarily call the Forbidden Lands. Each glade is led by a king or queen, often the elder of the clan, but all of elvendom pays respect to the forest of Krethnarok, whose seat is deemed highest above all others and closest to the gate of the Fey Wilde where Vanessa resides.
Plainer Elves, who broke from the Wood Elves in the early days of the world, reside in nomadic tribes with few clans remaining stationary. They wander the open grasslands of the Great Plains in Midland and through the open valley graze lands between Southrunn and Midland. Although they are separated from the Wood Elves by creed, tradition, and culture, the Plainer Elves still pay respect to Vanessa, the forests, and to Krethnarok as the highest law within their dominion.
Names: Wood Elves often avoid giving their name to outsiders and may take up false identities or nicknames while adventuring beyond their woodlands. When dealing with elves of higher stratum it is custom to avoid introducing oneself unless it is deemed appropriate by the superior elf. Because of this custom it is rare that elves rely on their names or even remember them at times. Elves do not have last names but may declare what forest, glade, or dominion they are from. Elves who have earned a reputation are often called on by their name followed by the mantle that they bear.
Plainer Elves use their names differently from Wood Elves in that they allow for a sir name which coincides with their tribe and is often stated as one first name with their tribe depicting the last phonetics.
Religion: All elves are taught that they were created and cared for by the order and chaos of nature. Vanessa, Goddess of the Fey and creator of nature upon Nhearn, is respected by all elves. For the Wood Elves the ideals of nature are more impactful and can lead to forest cults that cultivate evolving ideology of their own.
Plainer Elves respect and acknowledge the ways of the Fey Mother, but often they seek out the guidance of Katrina, the Goddess of the element of Air. The winds through the grasslands and the open sky are said to reveal secrets to the Plainer Elves and the tribes will often gather for large celebrations of music and jubilance in her honor.
Age: Elves live incredibly long lives upon Nhearn. They grow to adulthood after their first century and may live for as long as a millennium.
Alignment: Elves abide by the laws of nature which often results in Chaotic or self-preserving behaviors that many other races do not trust. The elves are not bent to one side of the pantheon, just as Vanessa is not aligned naturally to any other deity, but they have aligned against the powers of evil more often throughout the histories.
Size: Elves stand often over a full height and are often considered slim compared to humans, weighing approximately eight stones.
