All of the months throughout the year are four weeks long and each month is given two special days, one at the beginning and one at the end of the month, giving each month thirty days. When discussing the day or setting times of meeting in advance with citizens of the Empire, it is common to describe the week and the day. Third Mundas, for example, would be the third week of the month on the day of Mundas. Most courts within the Empire who require appointment may then send letter with the date reading: Second Fierdas of Octa.
In addition to normal days of the week are the two important days known as Inndas and Oudas. The first day of the month is known as Inndas, it is considered to be the day that the moon begins its new cycle and the next month starts. While the lunar cycle is correctly apportioned to just over twenty seven days to complete its phases, the first day of the month is viewed more symbolically, the current phase dictating the current balance of good luck or ill fate for the coming month. The last day of the month is known as Oudas, the day the moon ends its cycle and the old month ends. This day is often filled with revelry, celebrating the passage of time and the coming of a new lunar divination.
Inndas and Oudas are considered holidays within the Empire, often given to workers and the peasants as days of respite. These days are also important to the rituals of the Elves and are used architecturally by Dwarves. The days of Inndas and Oudas are viewed by many religious cults who base horoscope and fortune on the phase of the moon during these days, the full moon favoring the cult of Aurora and good fortune, and a new moon favoring Maribel and ill omen.
In this the year is measured in four seasons, twelve months, each month is thirty days and each day is twenty four hours, night and day moving by the season that Nhearn finds itself in.
